Week 6 EOC: Me X3
One personal item that I recently purchased was a skin cover for my phone from the company Skinit. It’s an online company that offers a variety of skins for different electronic items. While browsing online I found the perfect item for my phone which featured a skin of my favorite sports team the San Francisco 49ers. I like that there is abundance of different teams and different themes to choose from. It really gives the feeling of customization. “Dividing a market into smaller segments with distinct needs, characteristics, or behavior that might require separate marketing strategies or mixes” (Marketing an Introduction p.175). Another personal item of mine that I love is cologne that my best friend gave to me as a present. It really defines who I am because I’m always wearing it and most people recognize me by that certain scent. The cologne is called Usher. I enjoy it the most out of all the other colognes that I own. The scent is great not to strong yet very subtle. This is a good example of gender segmentation because the focus is on a guy wanting to smell good. “Dividing a market into different segments based on gender.( Marketing an Introduction p178). A final item that I purchased that I highly treasure would be my cell phone. In the ongoing battle between Apple and Samsung I sided with Samsung and purchased the Samsung galaxy s2. I just love my phone I would be so lost without it. It has many useful features that I enjoy such and navigation music and there are plenty of apps on the android market to choose from as well. I believe this phone was marketed towards people around my same age range which is a good example of age segregation.” Dividing a market into different age and life-cycle groups.” (Marketing an Introduction p178)

WEEK 5 EOC: Super Bowl Commercials

The Super Bowl commercial I decided to pick was the Bud-Light rescue dog. Marketing comes to you in the good old traditional forms: You see it in the abundance of products at your nearby shopping mall and in the advertisements that fill your TV screen” (Marketing An Introduction pg 3). This couldn’t be any more true than on Super Bowl Sunday with massive amount of companies paying big money just so you can watch their ads. I remember being glued to my TV during the game when this particular commercial aired and I absolutely loved it.  I love how they used the concept of man's best friend fetching us a nice cold beer, now I wish I could train my dog to do that. “The company must first decide who it will serve” (Marketing An Introduction pg 11) The target group that the ad is after is the young 21- 30 year old male or female that loves to have a good time. "Marketing, more than any other business function, deals with customers" (Marketing An Introduction pg. 3). Bud-Light knows exactly what their customer is after and that is having a good time with friends. They are giving the impression that by the atmosphere of the commercial it starts out with just a couple friends and it grows into a big celebration with everybody being amazed by little “weegos’s” beer fetching trick. I just think this commercial was one of the best ones of that Super Bowl it was very clever and funny at the same time.

WEEK 1 EOC: VOICE

Audio production covers a wide range and I’m more interested in music, I love music. Music is what has helped get through any occasion I may have been dealing with in my life, there is just something so powerful about it. I plan on being able to bring music to people and help bring people together. I love the sight and sound of seeing people come together for a common interest. For example being at a concert and seeing all these different people there for one simple reason and that is to simply enjoy the music and themselves. I love being able to express myself especially through music. I may not always be the one singing or performing but that doesn’t mean that I can’t still help it all come together. Now I don’t have a ton of experience but I am willing and wanting to learn all that I can about audio production. I know it’s a long road but I know it will all pay off in the end, because doing something that you truly enjoy doesn’t feel like a task or burden. This is something I’m really interested and passionate about that I can hardly wait to graduate and get out into the real world, i know it will not be easy but challenges have never steered me away.

EOC WEEK 4: Business vs. consumer buying behavior

Business buying behavior is a lot different than consumer buying behavior. With consumer buying behavior it is more personal. Factors that affect this include cultural, social, and personal. Whereas with business buying behavior choices are made more for the benefit of the company. In the article that we read about GE and its selling of products to business there are good examples that differentiate both consumer and business buying behavior. GE is a well-known company that sells great home appliances but a thing I learned is that they also sell a variety of non-consumer products.” Did you know that GE’s consumer products contribute less than one-third of the company’s total $183 billion in annual sales? To the surprise of many, most of GE’s business comes not from final consumers but from commercial and industrial customers across a wide range of industries.” (Marketing and introduction pg 158). Business purchases take a little more thought than a normal consumer would have to take to purchase let’s say a car. Also, with GE’s business customers, buying decisions are much more complex. An average consumer buying a refrigerator might do a little online research and then pop out to the local Best Buy to compare models before buying one. In contrast, buying a batch of jet engines involves a tortuously long buying process, dozens or even hundreds of decision makers from all levels of the buying organization, and layer upon layer of subtle and not-so-subtle buying influences.” (Marketing and introduction pg 158). I think businesses have a much longer thought process because they are buying products to help out their very own business and be able to cater to their own consumers. They in think tend to look at the bigger picture compared to a regular consumer.
